Luciano Candisani é um autor, capaz de se articular formalmente e eticamente. Entre outras qualidades, utiliza sua formação de biólogo para fotografar os animais em seus ambientes e em situações não tão habituais para os "fotógrafos de natureza". Suas imagens possuem um caráter engajado, já que seu ambiente de pesquisa e trabalho está constantemente ameaçado. A representação do animal na História da Arte é fundamental, desde a pré- história nas pinturas rupestres.
Eu comecei a fotografar os animais na natureza muito cedo, quando eu tinha 20 anos, há mais de 40 anos atrás, sempre me interessei por este tipo de trabalho e quando encontrei Luciano Candisani pela primeira vez, no Festival de Paraty em 2007, gostei de sua postura. Desde que mostrei os portfólios de La Chambre Noire ele se interessou e esteve absolutamente disponível para participar desta nova aventura da Schoeler Editions. O resultado deste encontro poderá agora ser avaliado tanto pelo público brasileiro quanto internacional.

Luciano Candisani’s field of investigation is South America, from the tropics down to the Antarctic. Water is always the main theme. For a source of life, this element is given a rough ride. His approach to behavior, to the relationship between the animal and its environment and its degradation poses hard questions to mankind. We are passengers in same Ark. It is a matter of our near future. We no longer have the luxury of merely pretending to do something about this wild exploitation of the planet.
The author attaches the greatest importance to the influence his photographs will have. Some may soon become the archive of a disappeared world. The ethical question is doubled with an aesthetic question. It is the terrible beauty of wild animals in nature that may move the human being to understand the cosmos in which he belongs. There is no doubt that some of these images will achieve iconic status. The photograph of the monkey teaching an inexperienced youngster how to break open a coconut stands - in our collective bestiary – with the sequence in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey in which a primate learns to use a tool.
All these features turn Luciano Candisani into a fully authorial photographer. His point and his style move us and make us reflect.
